Politically Payroll Or Is It?...

We are moving! And with this move comes new and exciting changes including a new name and expanded format. Politically Payroll is going prime time!  On December 1st we will be moving to 10 am on Mondays.  This allows us to have an hour show instead of one-half hour and is in what is prime time for radio--the late morning/early afternoon hours.  We will be exclusively streaming over the net as well to reach our listeners nationwide.  We will be streaming over www.vegasallnetradio.com.  It is the all-net affiliate of KLAV. We hope you will be able to join us and listen while at work.  As always we will still have rebroadcasts available on this website.

And our new name? Payroll Talk.  With the new name comes a new and expanded format.  We will be covering all facets of payroll not just the political side.  We will still have a segment known as Politically Payroll, which will cover the latest in legislation from Washington and all 50 states.  But we will be doing so much more.  Compliance Corner will be a weekly segment, as will Payroll's Place in Political History.  And we will be able to expand our pool of guests to include all venues related to payroll.  We also hope to be able to take phone calls or e-mails from listeners.  So mark your calendars for our move and join us on our new day and time as we do a little Payroll Talk... on www.vegasallnetradio.com.

Our last show in our old time slot will be the second part of our interview with Terry Peacock from TIGTA.  We will discuss what to look for in fraud from CPAs and enrolled agents and more phishing scams.  So please tune in.

When It Comes To Payroll Issues...

October 24, 2008 UPDATE: Mr. Velshi has read and replied to our post on CNNFAN.com. Hopefully this issue will be resolved quickly. Click on the "click here" below to read the latest from Mr. Velshi.

On Sunday June 8th CNN's show "Your Money" discussed the issue of vacation payouts when being laid off.  The host Ali Velshi and the Human Resource Expert, Cynthia Shapiro discussed what employees must be paid when being laid off.  The expert stated and the host confirmed that employees are entitled to two things:  unpaid or unused vacation and unemployment insurance.  The part about unpaid vacation is wrong. Whether or not an employee is entitled to unused vacation upon termination is decided by individual state law.  Ms. Lambert wrote an e-mail to both the host and the expert on the show to explain their error on this subject. Neither the host nor the expert has bothered to either acknowledge the e-mail nor correct the information.  Click here to follow the continuing saga of Ms. Lambert's battle to get the information corrected and for CNN to admit the error.
